WIN A HOLIDAY FOR 4 and help to raise funds in aid of Animal Free Research UK! This year Jay from MudTrek & Brechfa Forest Barns is 50! To mark the occasion he’s taking on an EPIC solo challenge to raise funds for Animal Free Research UK. He will be riding one of the toughest mountain bike routes in the world - the Trans-Portugal. The route is divided into 8 days starting on Thursday 16th April as follows: Day 1 – Chaves to Varias – 68 Miles (110km), 4890ft (1490m) climbing Day 2 – Varias to Viseu – 56 Miles (90km), 8427ft (2568m) climbing Day 3 – Viseu to Panhas Da Saude – 60 Miles (97km), 8977ft (2763m) climbing Day 4 – Panhas Da Saude to Castelo Branco – 53 Miles (85km), 4169ft (1270m) climbing Day 5 – Castelo Branco to Evora – 118 Miles (190km), 2157ft (657m) climbing Day 6 – Evora to Mina Da Juliana – 63 Miles (101km), 1978ft (602m) climbing Day 7 – Mina Da Juliana to Caldas De Monchique – 82 Miles (132km), 6372ft (1942m) climbing Day 8 – Caldas De Monchique to Sagres – 58 Miles (93km), 4353ft (1325m) climbing That’s a total of 558 Miles (898km) with 41,323ft (12,595m) of climbing on a mountain bike, off road, solo and self guided in 8 days! Jay will be riding most of the route alone except for occasions where he will meet up with the volunteer support team for re-supply and they will accompany him on some sections to capture video and still images to help keep a record of this epic challenge.
