THE NOTTINGHAM Panthers are proud to confirm that this online jersey raffle will be dedicated to this year’s Poppy Appeal. We’ve had a stunning commemorative shirt design drawn up AND there will be no less than TEN prizes up for grabs. In normal circumstances fans can buy poppies from the Royal British Legion to show their support for the armed forces on their way in to our games. That can’t happen this year and fund-raisers were worried that Panthers’ fans wouldn’t be able to make their usual tremendous contribution to such a worthwhile cause. Covid means we’ve had to adapt and the club has decided to hand over the upcoming on-line shirts raffle to this year’s Poppy Appeal. They say every poppy counts and we can say every penny of profit from this week’s important shirt raffle will be passed on. We had a spectacular pre-game Remembrance Sunday ceremony last year which earned plaudits from around the globe when the club’s wreath dropped in by abseil from the roof. If truth be told we had an even bigger production planned for this year to show our appreciation of the country’s forces’ personnel. That will have to be saved for another year because of the pandemic but we are confident our fans will still want to show their appreciation. They say people should wear their poppies with pride, our TEN winners will be able to wear their Panthers’ special shirts covered in a field of poppies with pride too. The Poppy Appeal raffle starts on Monday (November 2nd) morning. We’ve added extra tickets so that we can give extra help. Thanks everyone.
