  • OWN A SLICE OF AMERICA AND AMERICAN HISTORY Type "Tony Stella's Encore" in your search engine. There you will see scores of pictures of the building and restaurant offered in this raffle. Built in 1861, in 1976 the building was refitted to six one-bedroom apartments. Then in 2008 the ground and first floors were refitted to a fine dining restaurant. INSTANT INCOME. As there is a sitting tenant you would receive a rental income of approximately USD 40,000 per year. Each year National Geographic Traveller magazine names the top outdoor action town in each of the 50 states of America. Jim Thorpe is selected every year for its white water rafting, skiing, boating, mountain biking and its rail to trail biking. Jim Thorpe is named after the native American athlete and hero of the 1912 Olympics who is buried here. Before 1954 the town was known as Mauch Chunk, a native American name meaning "The place of the sleeping bear." Go to E Bay, type in "Mauch Chunk" for past views of the town or go to "JimThorpe.org" for everything about this town. The town is entirely surrounded by mountains with the Lehigh River running through its centre. It has been recognized as the prettiest town in Pennsylvania and amongst the top ten in the entire United States. Yahoo.com named Jim Thorpe the #1 place in the USA to see the coloured leaves in the autumn. Jim Thorpe is two hours by automobile from New York City. Population has been about 5,000 for the past 150 years. Learn all about the man who commissioned this building; type "General Charles Albright" in your search engine. A Union hero of the American Civil War and a staunch abolitionist. Presidents U.S. Grant and Cleveland visited the building. The mansion, located at 66 Broadway in Jim Thorpe, is 706 square metres over four floors with a full basement. There is virtually no grounds maintenance required. The architecture is a combination of Italianate and French Third Empire. Prominent features of the building are bracketed oriel windows and ornate door hoods and trim. The twenty-six room mansion includes intricately inlaid oak floors, an original Carrera marble Fireplace and Minton tiled hearth. The restaurant just oozes old world charm and cosiness. The building is furnished with city gas and the water is city mains. All restaurant equipment and furniture is included in the raffle. This is a "turnkey" opportunity. The restaurant's liquor license is available for purchase (Subject to approval by the state liquor control board.) if you decide to operate the restaurant yourself. Pictures: My wife is holding our miniature poodle Dusty along the Lehigh River rail to trail and also at Mauch Chunk Lake Park. The lake, three miles away, is available year 'round and is a trophy Black Bass fishing lake. Winter skiing is twenty minutes away at Blue Mountain or Big Boulder and Jack Frost ski areas. I am the past president of the Jim Thorpe Chamber of Commerce. I was born in Mauch Chunk and raised in Jim Thorpe. We are offering this great building and opportunity because we are older and ready to retire. Our grandchildren are calling. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE.
