We are delighted to have won this Gibson Bass Guitar to raffle to raise funds and awareness to help this little boy William. The Guitar was kindly donated by Ben Potts lead singer from the band 'Son's of Eden'. Back in December 2015 when William was only 3 years old his family were given the devastating news and William was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne is 100% fatal; whilst it is often hereditary, 1/3 of cases are spontaneous which means it can happen to any family, just like it did to ours! William is now 8 years old and cannot walk for long periods, he cannot make it up the stairs and struggles to stand up from the floor. Soon William will no longer be able to walk and will require his wheelchair full time. This condition causes all muscles in the body to fail. Firstly, Williams legs, hips and back which he struggles with now, then in the future his arms, his breathing and swallowing muscles and finally his heart will all fail him. That is of course if one of many complications do not take him first. Williams generation will be the last to die or the first to survive! We live in hope each day. Due to the recent covid-19 restrictions and current lockdown William had missed out on a number of his dreams such as swimming with Dolphin's and visiting Santa in Lapland. With the raffle we are hoping to send William to swim with the Dolphins which he has always dreamed of hopefully in the near future due to his life limiting condition.
