This winter I am raising funds for The Biscuit Fund who offer small cash donations or occasionally online food orders (if the recipient’s bank account is overdrawn), that give needy folk just a little helping hand when they need it most, without making them feel humiliated or making them wait in line. Sometimes all that is needed is £20 to top up the electricity meter, or sometimes a larger bill has to be handled to avoid their clients being disconnected, something no one wants this winter. Frequently they find that they are paying for food as recipients are often found to be missing meals to feed their children, and haven’t had a square meal themselves in days. This is what The Biscuit Fund does, day in, day out. They believe in giving people just a tiny bit of hope, every single person working within The Biscuit Fund is a volunteer. Not one single penny of the money they raise goes towards salaries, every penny is given back to those in need all across the UK. So, in order for us to reach our target goal we reached out to Neil Gaiman, world renowned and of course multi winning award and New York Times Best Selling author to see if he would be generous enough to donate a signed copy of one of his books. Expecting to get just a signed copy of one of Neil's books we were absolutely astounded when Neil very kindly not only signed the booked but doodled pictures in ink on the internal pages and provenance can be seen in the pictures and by Neil’s tweets between us, which as we all know well enough are very public. Neil Gaiman is an author whose books cover many genres such as fantasy, horror, science fiction, dark fantasy and comedy and he has won many, many awards over the years. This is one of those rare once in a lifetime opportunity to own such a beautiful and wonderful book by such a renowned author. The book itself is unused, and has only been opened to take pictures of the inscriptions and drawings made by Neil himself in December 2020 We have come to the conclusion with some book expert opinions that due to the uniqueness of this book it could easily retail online at well in excess of £200 if we auctioned it on a well known auction site, however like many of his fans we felt that this would be a fabulous opportunity for one of Neil’s fans to have the chance of winning this book and Neil is aware that we are selling this book to benefit The Biscuit Fund. Tickets will be limited to 500 tickets at £10 per ticket, taking into consideration the amount that this platform allows and given that this platform takes a 10 percent of what we raise we will still be under the £4500 mark, however using this platform allows us to operate this raffle legally and in line with the Gambling Commissions guidelines on fund raising.
