John Blanche recently raised a huge amount of money for the NHS by auctioning a personalised portrait via EBay. The lucky winner will be in possession of his piece soon. If you follow John on Facebook, you may have seen the work-in-progress. I was lucky enough to be involved, hosting the Ebay Auction and advertising the auction on Facebook. (Along with support from Original Oldhammer Artwork. You should look them up on Facebook.) At the time, many people were disappointed (though not surprised) to see the auction go immediately out of their price range, and several suggested that they would be keen to take part in a raffle. Happily, John agreed to enter three of the "NHW Rainbow" pieces that he drew, and which inspired me to suggest an auction in the frst place, into a raffle of some sort. Sadly, a raffle is a lot harder to (legally) organise than it looks, especially over a period of more than one day and/or online. Seriously, look it up on the Gambling Commission's web pages. A combination of factors made me decide that the difficulties in organising it myself, or more accurately through a society, were probably just to onerous. Although this website takes a commission (10%) it is a *relatively* low commission compared to most charities, so I decided to host a prize draw here. Although you have to answer a question, I am sure it is something which, if you are keen enough to own some of John's work, you'll be able to find the answer! If you are not 100% then I encourage you to ask someone. I hope that many of you will buy tickets and help John to help the NHS even more.
