Martin Latal, originally from Olomouc, Czech Republic, joined the Sheffield Steelers at the beginning of the 2021/22 season. Joining Martin in the UK is his wife, Iryna. Iryna is Ukrainian, and her family have unfortunately been directly affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine – resulting in 11 of Iryna’s family members being displaced from their homes and forced to flee the country with no access to money or food. Whilst in the UK, Martin Latal has taken on the responsibility of looking after, and financially supporting his wife’s family by providing food, clothing, heating, and shelter through a rented apartment – all without asking for anything in return. To offer their support, the Belfast Giants Official Supporters Club, in conjunction with the Stena Line Belfast Giants, are raffling three game prepared Challenge Cup final jerseys belonging to #22 Kevin Raine, #9 Ben Lake, and #12 J.J. Piccinich. Tickets are priced at £2 each, and profits will be donated to Martin Latal. Raffle ends at 4PM on Sunday 10th April.
