Raffle Summary
Hello jazz appreciator! This is the third and possibly final Grassroots Jazz raffle, designed to raise funds for jazz clubs without dedicated premises who did not therefore qualify for any help in the government's post- Covid arts recovery program. We have already prevented at least two clubs from closing so we’re making a real, positive different to the jazz scene here in the UK. Every single entrant can claim two album downloads - 'Charlie Parker' by Martin Speake (featuring the awesome Mike Outram on guitar.). Also 'Guitar Jam London Sessions Vol 2’ by Australian guitarist Tony Barnard featuring a star studded list of great guitar players - Jim Mullen, Louis Stewart, Dave Cliff and Nils Solberg. N.B. YOU HAVE TO SIGN UP TO THIS MAILING LIST TO GET THEM. http://eepurl.com/h4y2UH If I don't have your email I can't send you the codes... Without dedicated premises, official company status and no justification for £50,000 minimum grants these venues received nothing whilst larger venues and organisations did pretty well. Some 97% of UK jazz clubs did not qualify for help. As a result we are already seeing closures. We cannot let this happen. Not on our watch. 100% of profits will go direct to the clubs. Check https://www.grassrootsjazz.com/ for the campaign's progress. Aside from all that, you get the chance of winning one of 14 fabulous prizes, all donated from establishments and kind people who believe in what we’re doing. Please buy a ticket and share the link! Thanks Nigel

A Fibonacci 'Americano' prototype archtop jazz guitar. A truly magnificent instrument that was used by Alessio Menconi when he came to the Uk earlier this year. You can clearly hear from the video that's it's an instrument that is more than capable of satisfying the needs of a world class player. This is a beautiful traditional jazz guitar. It's the natural finish guitar that Big Jim Sullivan is playing in the photos.. Totally immaculate with hard case. Here's a review from Jazzwise. The Jazz City is a unique full bodied ‘f’ hole jazzer from the newly arrived Peerless stable. Not that the Korean Peerless company is new to making guitars (they’ve been making guitars for various other well known brands since 1970), but this is the first time that they have set out on their own, confident in the quality of their product. With a solid flame maple top and laminated maple back and sides together with a maple neck, this full size 17 inch baby with a 75mm body depth, produces a beautifully focussed, clean, round tone that you might expect from maple. The adjustable bridge, tailpiece and 22 fret fingerboard, which is decorated with mother of pearl inlay, is produced out of stock rosewood, while the nut is traditional bone. The whole is topped off by a set of gold plated Grover machine heads set on a headstock that is very similar to the large crown of the D’Aquisto. The “house designed” humbucking pick up with its gold tone and volume controls is set into the body in the ‘mid-way’ position a la Gibson ES 175D and although well balanced, it is not an ideal match for the maple top, giving a very lively and bright sound. We would have preferred something more mellow, along the lines of a ‘Seth Lover’ or a ‘59. Unusually, the instrument comes in a satin/matt sunburst finish with a rather classy abalone/white binding that you will either love or hate! Strung as standard with a set of D’Addario 12’s, the Jazz City has a good overall balance and a feel that will please even the most discerning player. It comes in a plush, traditionally shaped hard case.
