Raffle Summary
Every month until the end of the year The York Ghost Merchants will host a charity Raffall of a single Ghost to support a different charity each time, some of these charitable causes are particularly important to us. The inaugural Charity Ghost is the Copperplate Ghost a Black Box edition. Numbers 1 to 13 were sold on The Understore over the New Year period through a series of passwords. The Copperplate Ghosts will never be openly available and the remaining few Ghosts will either be sold via Raffall or through The Understore. The first charity that will receive support through the Monthly Charity Ghost initiative is Breast Cancer Now; a charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing support. 100% of profit will go directly to the charity - Raffall themselves take 10% so £1.80 from each ticket sold will go to Breast Cancer Now. The draw will take place soon after the ticket sales deadline on 21st May and the lucky winner will be contacted via the details supplied when purchasing tickets. All tickets purchased will go into the draw individually even if they are bought as a single transaction. There is no ticket purchase limit and the Raffall is open to those overseas too. We have not set an upper total ticket limit total number of tickets sold will determine the number of tickets in the draw and the total raised for Breast Cancer Now. The Ghosts are made of solid bronze which is then plated in copper. Like all of our hand cast metal ghosts these bear the marks of the process, they are not perfect machine made objects and have been sand cast, hand polished and copper plated in Sheffield. Copperplate is also a style of calligraphic writing made using a sharp pointed nib. The Copperplate style originates from Europe in the early 17th century. In the 18th century it was a time of significant commercial expansion in England and the need for accounting and registering revenue and expenditure arose. The style is called Copperplate as in the early days the scribe’s writing was transferred by an engraver, using a pointed tool called a burin, on to a plate made of copper. Printed sheets were then made from this copperplate. Comes in Black Box with numbered and dated edition card. H 8.5 x D 5.5 x W 4.5cm 19th Black Box Edition
