Part of this years 400th Anniversary celebration includes the release of 400 hand-picked Vintage ‘A’ cymbals from the Zildjian family vault. 200 of the finest 20” vintage ‘A’ rides, which were built during the mid-1940’s in the original Quincy. As a mark of their distinction, they have the original fingerprints and stick marks of the cymbal tester who approved each cymbal. That cymbal tester was Armand Zildjian. In addition, some of the fingerprints belong to his father Avedis Zildjian, who deliberately tucked these cymbals away in the family vault rather than the company vault. These cymbals were special to him. They've also selected 200 15” vintage ‘A’ crash cymbals that were made sometime between the mid-1930s and mid-1950s. A popular sound of the time, both Buddy Rich and Roy Haynes had 15” crash cymbals on their kits. These cymbals represent the best examples of their size -- both sonically and visually. So, when you see them, they look as though they just came off the lathe. These vintage ‘A’s truly represent a piece of Zildjian’s history that you now have the opportunity to your drum kit. Each cymbal comes in a protective 400th anniversary commemorative travel case with a pair of gloves and a cymbal stand adapter so that you can actually play the cymbal on your kit, which is what the cymbal was made to do!
