This is a new version of a previous, much loved classic, and will be recognisable to cigar smokers of a certain vintage. The original Bolívar Gold Medal predated the Cuban Revolution of 1959 and has been in and out of production, in the ensuing years. The New Gold Medal has maintained the length (6 ½”) of the original but, perhaps in deference to modernity, the ring gauge has risen from 42 to 48. The striking gold foil used to dress the cigars is now embossed with the name “Bolívar”.
