Win a Lovely Narrowboat Home for 2
Raffle Summary
On Wednesday 16th October, someone will win Sloe Patrol, a much loved Narrowboat Home and it could be life changing. Winning this £40,000 Narrowboat Home would mean you could live rent free or sell her to raise much needed funds for a house deposit. Freedom from paying rent, freedom from worrying about utility costs and council tax, freedom from increasing living costs and freedom from the concrete jungle. Imagine….no electric bills as it’s all solar, a gas bill of less than £20 a month and zero heating costs if you can get wood. There’s no council tax if you have a continuous cruiser licence which costs less than £100 a month and allows you to go and live anywhere across the 2000 mile network with thousands of free towpath moorings. The transformational effect this could have on your mental health and work-life balance is tangible; leaving the rat race of working flat-out just to pay someone else’s mortgage and having sod all money as soon as the rent and bills are paid. That’s why I bought and renovated this narrowboat 4 years ago because that’s what I needed. I needed a place of my own for me and my kids to live which was low cost, comfy and warm. Thanks to my unexpected YouTube success, I have a newer larger narrowboat to renovate and I want to pass on the good fortune and luck I’ve had with Sloe Patrol to someone else who needs it. Sloe Patrol has been carefully and lovingly restored over the last 4 years and is now a fully fitted home with a kitchen with gas appliances and a fridge/freezer, a lounge with a multi-fuel stove and dinette which converts into a double berth, a bathroom with a lovely shower and a bedroom with an extending king size bed with ample storage. Navigating Sloe Patrol is easy and made beautiful with the nostalgic sounds made by the Lister SR2 engine. Everything about Sloe Patrol is simple and easy for anyone to work and live on hassle free. I will provide a thorough handover of the boat to the winner and ensure that whoever wins this boat can not just operate the boat easily, but knows about locks, mooring and a few of the other basics of narrowboating. Winning Sloe Patrol could give you two simple choices; live-aboard rent free along the thousands of miles of canals and rivers or sell to raise some much needed cash into your life. Either will massively improve your financial situation and I really do hope this raffle is won by someone who really needs Sloe Patrol in their life - whether that be for financial reasons or mental health reasons. This is more than just a raffle, it's s my chance to pass on some of the good fortune and luck I've had to someone else; by offering a home, a second chance, a retreat or just somewhere to escape to. Included in the raffle is everything onboard you need so you can move in straight away and not have to lift a finger. So if you’ve been given the heave-ho by your now ex and left with just a spoon…then fear not, it’s all here for you. If it was won by someone who needs to sell her then I would be happy to help in that deal. Sloe Patrol is worth £40,000 all day long, you could sell her overnight for £25k cash but holding out for £40k may take a bit of time. Winning a narrowboat home is not normal so if you have any questions at all then please email me at [email protected] and I will do my best to answer any questions you have. Lots of information about living on a narrowboat can be found at the Canal & River Trust website (they run the canals) and there are now hundreds of YouTube channels showing you what the life is like. You can look at various Sloe Patrol videos on my YouTube channel “The Narrowboat that James Built” and see how the boat was built. Thank you for considering entering this raffle. I hope this home finds you. James
1 Prize
On Wednesday 16th October someone will win Sloe Patrol, a 43" Narrowboat Home. That person could sell her, live on her, use her as a weekend toy or put her in a marina for holidays. Whether you're sure you're buying some tickets or you haven't quite made up your mind yet, here is a simple list of things you could ask yourself to help you know if you should enter this raffle. - I would like to live rent free - I am aware that owning a narrowboat is a responsibility - I like the idea of living off-grid - I would like to explore the canal network - I’d love to live near London or any other main city for almost nothing a month - I would like to have a weekend retreat - I would like an asset worth £40k which I could sell - I would like a big toy to play with - I have never won anything so why not, first time for everything - I would like to be near nature - I am aware nature was here first - I would like to own a piece of YouTube history - I would like not to care what happens to interest rates - I would like to have a slower pace of life - I am aware that my sex life will probably improve if I won this narrowboat - If I won and sold the boat, I’d be happy to give a chunk of cash to Shelter.Org as a goodwill gesture and to help pass it on. - I would like to become physically fitter without going to a gym or being a cyclist - I am aware that I will be given full boat and canal tuition before I’m left to it - I am aware that I can sink a boat in a lock if I’m not careful - I am aware this is a special narrowboat and needs someone to take care of it - I am aware that there is no minimum target for tickets on this raffle and I am also very aware that if this raffle was a huge failure owing to an alien invasion in Birmingham or something else and only a small number of people entered the raffle and Sloe Patrol would only realise a fraction of it's actual worth; then the raffle would conclude as normal and a winner would be randomly selected by Raffall as normal and instead of winning the main prize of Sloe Patrol, they would be compensated by winning 75% of the entire pot and the raffle company takes the rest so James gets zero. - I am now very very aware that James is NOT doing this raffle for nothing and then to have the awkwardness of having to sell Sloe Patrol through conventional methods. I get it, he’s confident the alien invasion won’t happen, enough people will enter and someone who really needs the financial boost will win her fair and square. - I know that if it was me, yes me, the one reading this now and grinning, if it were me that won this awesome life changing prize that I would take ownership of the boat once the raffle has concluded and monies have cleared and would be liable for licensing and insuring the boat thereafter. - I am also aware that my changes of winning if I just buy 1 ticket are possibly quite small, albeit a damn sight better than the national lottery but I am somewhat comforted by the knowledge that for every ticket bought above the expected turnout will result in 10% of that ticket given to Shelter.Org UK - I am also aware that James is trying to make it as a content creator, boat builder and father to 5 kids all in two steel tubes (soon to be one steel tube) and every ticket sold and every ticket bundle sold helps that happen. Thank you and best of luck I hope this Home finds you James
