PROCEEDS FROM THIS PRIZE COMPETITION WILL BE DONATED AS FOLLOWS-: (34%) SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity (33%) THE LONGEST YARN and (33%) FRIENDS OF MOSTYN STREET The D Day Landings throw is a unique crocheted creation, in honour of everyone who took part in the 1944 D Day Landings and also the amazing crafters who took part in 2024 to create the Longest Yarn - an 80 metre display of knitted and crocheted scenes depicting the story of D Day. The crocheted throw is made up of squares, some depicting the Normandy Landings scenes by land, air and sea, featuring jeeps, landing craft, paratroopers, lancasters and beach scenes of 1944 and 2024, inspired by some of the panels in the Longest Yarn. The throw is 100% acrylic and approximately 1000mm square. It is the only prize in this competition. The Longest Yarn Exhibition started it's journey in Carentan, Normandy, and is now on tour in the UK. The throw is on display in Llandudno, Wales, where the Longest Yarn exhibition is running from 2nd to 27th October.
