Win A print of Abney Park by Agustin Coll

Raffle Summary
This is your chance to win a Giclée print of Agustin Coll's iconic and intriguing rendition of Abney Park Cemetery. The original is hand-drawn with pen and pencil on an A2 (42 x 59.4cm) sheet of paper. All funds raised from the proceeds of this raffle will be put towards Abney Park Trust's work. Our purpose is to bring Abney Park to life so together we can benefit and learn from the park’s unique wildlife, biodiversity and rich cultural heritage. We employ staff, run events and much more. A few years ago Agustin set out to draw the so-called Magnificent Seven cemeteries of London – a new one every Halloween – and reimagine them as maps in the shape of the Grim Reaper. So far he has drawn West Norwood, Brompton and Tower Hamlets cemeteries; and has now completed a piece inspired by Stoke Newington’s favourite green space (with the permission of Clissold Park). Agustin’s morbid new take sees the layout of Abney Park become a top-heavy hulking angel of Death, its pointy head William Hoskins' recently refurbished chapel – which is losing grip of its scythe, in a nod to the cemetery ceasing to operate in the late 1970s. For added creepiness, a half-rotting brown paper bag from the Whole Foods on Church Street barely hangs in its other hand, in a lighthearted reference to the cliché of bougie Stoke Newington. His cemetery drawings are best enjoyed as tongue-in-cheek memento mori, delightfully creepy and fun celebrations of death. It's part of a limited run of 50 Giclée prints on Hahnemüle Photo Rag paper, hand signed and numbered by Agustin; he has donated the print to the Trust. Agustin is interested in the narrative and expressive capacity of architecture, along with how it echoes the history and identity of our ever-changing built environment. His work is influenced by land art, video games and avant-garde architectural groups such as Archigram and takes the form of technical drawings, photo collage and satirical cartoons. The thorough exploration of space, whether it's buildings or cities, is a crucial part of the creation process for Agustin as are the feelings and stories that originate in these places. Agustin is originally from Barcelona, Spain, and has lived in London since 2008 when he moved to the UK to study at Camberwell College of Arts. He has since been shortlisted for a World Illustration Award, longlisted for a Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize and has been featured in the Architects’ Journal. He has a studio space in a railway arch near Brixton, South London. Agustin’s Abney Park Cemetery print can be purchased online from his Big Cartel shop (£120+P&P).
