Margo Mc Daid, also known as Margo in Margate, is an Irish artist renowned for her relentless creativity and vibrant works. Since February 2014, she has dedicated herself to painting daily in her Kent studio, producing an impressive collection of artworks, with each piece reflecting a day in her artistic journey. Margo’s unique style and compelling female portraiture have garnered a devoted online following. Her works, characterized by a vintage charm and vivid colors inspired by Margate’s youth culture, are highly sought after, often selling out immediately upon being posted on Instagram. Her solo exhibition at Brighton’s Helm Gallery in January 2024 was a testament to her popularity, with all pieces sold out within 24 hours. Every single penny of this £10 ticket goes direct to Superstar Arts. Superstar Arts is a registered charity which was co founded in 2012 by Jo Sullivan to create new and exciting opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. They Deliver high quality, innovative artistic experiences and Create meaningful opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to develop their own inspirational and unique ideas. The Superstars are encouraged to express themselves via a variety of different creative outlets, and this includes screen printing, fine art projects, craft, mixed media, music, film making and drama. They also offer work experience in their own little local shop and art studio which sells all their wonderful work. The Superstar Artists also regularly exhibit their artwork in local galleries, and enjoy collaborating with mainstream artists and performers. They currently have a fundraising target of £25,000 to raise this year just to keep the charity going.
