Win From Every Corner: Stories Across Asia

Sweepstake Summary
This month’s bundle celebrates AAPI voices across all of Asia - from Northeast to Central. I curated this with one goal: to shine a light on incredible stories that often get overlooked. Whether it’s a tale of protest, haunting gods, or political ghosts - there’s a new voice waiting for you in every book. This bundle features five stunning stories, each from a different region of Asia - handpicked for their beauty, boldness, and underrepresentation. What’s in the bundle: • An Echo in the City (Hong Kong) • The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida (Sri Lanka) • Black Water Sister (Malaysia) • Bride of the Sea (Saudi Arabia/USA) • The Railway (Uzbekistan) Each book comes with a mini note from me, sharing why I chose it - and a few bookish extras to make your reading time extra special. Open internationally. Raffle closes June 10th. A portion of proceeds will be donated to a literacy or translation-focused charity supporting access to global stories.
1 Prize
1. An Echo in the City by K.X. Song (Hong Kong) I chose this because it centers voices we don’t often hear in YA - young people living through real political unrest. It’s set in Hong Kong during the 2019 protests and brings activism, identity, and belonging to the forefront. 2. The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida by Shehan Karunatilaka (Sri Lanka) This Booker Prize winner caught my attention for its boldness - a dead man navigating the afterlife in a time of civil war? It promises dark humor, magical realism, and a sharp look at violence, truth, and justice in Sri Lanka. 3. Black Water Sister by Zen Cho (Malaysia) This is a supernatural urban fantasy set in Penang with ghosts, gods, and aunties. I picked it because it blends queerness, family pressure, and Malaysian folklore in a way that feels modern, hilarious, and deeply rooted. 4. Bride of the Sea by Eman Quotah (Saudi Arabia/USA) I chose this for its quiet, intergenerational exploration of womanhood, migration, and cultural conflict. It’s a Saudi-American story that doesn’t get told often - about a mother who disappears with her child and the consequences that ripple out. 5. The Railway by Hamid Ismailov (Uzbekistan) Central Asian literature is rarely spotlighted, and that’s exactly why this is here. The Railway is set in Uzbekistan and captures life in a small town through decades of political change. A hidden gem in translation.
