Formerly known as The RPA Benevolent Fund, Restart was founded in 2001 to support professional players forced to retire through illness or injury. We provide financial and practical support to players and their families during difficult times, including help with the cost of medical treatment, rehabilitation equipment, counselling, education and career transition. Restart is also there when players need emotional support in coming to terms with losing the game they love. Restart is a Registered Charity No.1113160 that is funded entirely through voluntary donations and fundraising activity. We rely on the support of businesses, rugby supporters and the players themselves to raise funds each year for those in need. A considerable amount of pro bono support is given by The RPA, including staff time, office space and fundraising opportunities at high-profile commercial events.
