We are raising money for the Merseyside PPE Hub! “LLT PPE” and “Scrub Hub Liverpool” were born when a group of design and technology teachers from the “Lydiate Learning Trust” in Merseyside got together to discuss what they could do to help in the Coronavirus crisis. With a national shortage of personal protective equipment, they decided they needed to do something about it and put their unique skills to use to create plastic visors and scrubs that would be used by nurses, paramedics, care workers and many more. The group volunteer their time 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, to make sure frontline workers are protected in this pandemic. Its efforts were recognised by the national organisation “Fans Supporting Foodbanks” and local fan group “Spirit of Shankly”. The two teamed up with LLT PPE and Scrub Hub Liverpool to reach more people who are in immediate need of PPE. Due to high demand, they expanded into the “Merseyside PPE hub”, taking volunteers from all over the region. It’s now the main centre for free PPE in Merseyside. In just 5 weeks, the hub has created 30,000 visors, creating 400-600 a day and providing scrubs to 14 different organisations including Liverpool University Hospitals, St Helens & Whiston Hospital and Aintree Hospital. A recent trip saw the Merseyside PPE Hub travel to Newcastle, Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester to deliver PPE to football fan groups across the UK to distribute to their frontline workers, all made from the Merseyside PPE Hub.
