Raffle Summary
We are raising funds to help Paula Friggieri get the specialist cancer treatment she needs, as hey options on the NHS are now limited (see below for details). Tom Curry, the noted Sale Sharks player, and regular England Player (having played in the World Cup) has very kindly donated his match worn shirt from his first England Game captaining the senior squad in this year's 6 Nation's tournament. The game was the Scotland vs England match played at Murrayfield in Edinburgh on the 05th of February (22). The shirt is embroided with the match details, his England player number, and the fact it was his 37th cap for the squad. It has been signed by Tom prominently on the chest and is ready for framing. This is a once in a lifetime chance to own a significant piece of England Rugby memorabilia, with Tom likely to go on to be the regular captain in the future. Your entry to this raffle not only gives you the opportunity to own something very special, but also to try and let a family keep their wife, their mother, their grandmother, so thank you. More about Paula, who this raffle is in aid of; Paula (53) was diagnosed with bowel cancer in March 2021. She has been undergoing chemotherapy for over a year. When she was diagnosed, Christie's found a rare condition (DPD deficiency, where she has an inability to detoxify) through her blood tests and was told she would only be able to cope with 50% strength of chemotherapy. Her first round of chemo completely floored her as it started attacking her bone marrow and white blood cells, therefore that round of treatment had to be cut short. The doctors tweaked the chemo and Paula has been managing exceptionally well, still really fatigued but constantly fighting. Fast forward to November 2021 she went for scans where she was told she was responding really well and that the tumour had shrunk. Paula and her family were extremely relieved, however she (Paula) was still on the borderline for being able to have an operation to remove the tumour. In January 2022, Paula met with the surgeon to discuss the operation and the risks that came with it, the surgeon needed more scans to confirm her cancer treatment was still working and to determine if she could press on with the operation. unfortunately the results came back that the tumour had now in fact grown and that they suspect it has also spread to her liver, so the chemo had stopped working and she is now sadly inoperable. The family need to raise funds to get Paula to a cancer clinic in Germany which specialises in personalised treatment. She would undergo intense treatment over 21 days where they are hopeful they can kill all the cancer cells. Paula is running out of treatments being offered to her in the UK due to the complexity of where her tumour is. The family have received the quote form the clinic and so need to raise £80,000 to try to save Paula. Your entry to this raffle not only gives you the opportunity to own something very special, but also to try and let a family keep their wife, their mother, their grandmother, so thank you.
