I would suggest a nice linen or for the winter a soft wool for the back. This can either be on a single layer or a double layer for lighter fabrics. For the lining, most waistcoats had a silk facing, often made from scraps and further a linen or cotton lining. This is a Sew It Yourself Kit and the pattern serves as a guide. It comes with minimal instructions on how to construct the waistcoat. The front line cannot be altered, however you can alter the side seams, shoulder and full back to make a perfect fit. Please make adjustments accordingly and please check the measurements for each size on the pattern drawings. All our products are made to order. Estimate dispatch time is between 1-2 weeks. Care Instructions: The fabrics have been heavily ironed and steamed, however due to the nature of the embroidery, washing is not recommended as it could shrink the fabric, spot cleaning only. A layer of cotton interfacing has been applied to stabilise the fabric for the embroidery, which mean no further canvassing is needed for a very lightweight waistcoat as often seen in this period.
