As a group of Experian Graduates, we're looking to raise money and awareness for the IIHUK charity. Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) is a condition associated with raised fluid pressure around the brain that affects around 1 in 100,000 people. “Idiopathic” means the cause isn’t known, “intracranial” means in the skull, and “hypertension” means high pressure. The fluid that cushions the brain is called cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and when raised it can cause symptoms like those of a brain tumor, such as disabling daily headaches, pulsatile tinnitus, changes in eyesight and permanent vision loss in 25% of cases. IIHUK is the only UK registered charity who champion research and provide support for sufferers of IIH. As a small charity they rely on fundraisers such as these to fund their cause! They work closely with the UK's IIH expert clinician team in Birmingham to campaign research and trials to discover treatments, evaluate causes and understand long-terms effects to improve the lives of patients and families affected by IIH.
