Our dear friend Shaun Roberts is battling a fierce cancer. He has been through chemotherapy, radio therapy and various operations to remove tumours from his body. He is a survivor. His friends have been raising money for a new life extending treatment to help manage this illness, which affects us all whether directly or indirectly. This kicked off with a recent sell out fundraiser at Fabric and this weekend we launch the BAR BOOT SALE! Bar Boot Sale is much like a car boot sale, except it’s in a bar – with drinks and music! The physical sale will be held on Saturday 4th December at Kingsland Locke Hotel, Dalston from 12pm – 5pm. With so many brilliant designer pieces, art and other generally fab giveaways on offer we decided to run an online raffle, giving us more chances to share the love and to raise money from people who can’t make the sale. All funds raised from the Bar Boot Sale and this lovely raffle will be transferred to Shaun’s Go Fund me page and help with his battle against this cancer. Prizes have been donated from many our wonderful friends in fashion, music and the arts and include gig tickets, music vouchers, one off art prints, designer items and more. Jon Cooke is an art director and artist, he has generously donated this wonderful painting to Shaun's cause, Jon says 'I’ve been friends with Shaun since the early 00’s I became the art director at Fabric working with Shaun, Judy and Nicky Smith we had so many fantastic nights at the club (from what I can remember) It’s an absolute honour to put one of my paintings up for auction to help fund Shauns treatment. This work is the first one I painted in this series which are inspired by a road trips across America. Love you Shaun!' The painting is acrylic on the heavy weight cartridge paper mounted and framed by Brinder and Ball, kindly paid for by Sara Dawes. The size is 59cm x 84cm hence the collection in London.
