Multiple prize raffle for Easter Fundraiser for St Brigid's Third World Group Belfast supported by the Catholic Chaplaincy at QUB. St Brigid's Third World Group (www.stbrigids3wg.com) is a registered charity which has been raising money for the relief of poverty in developing countries since 1989. All the money raised goes directly to the beneficiaries; none is used for administration. We currently support 18 projects - all of which have been impacted by covid. The closure of schools meant that many children missed the one meal a day on which they relied. People who made a small income from selling second hand clothes or running street food stalls for workers were left destitute when these were closed down. Vaccine programmes were limited and healthcare systems, already under pressure, were decimated. Our fundraising events have also been curtailed because of covid and we are running this raffle to supplement our income. We are most grateful to those who have contributed to the prizes and your participation in this raffle will enable us to continue to support our projects. We support • feeding programmes – to prevent starvation and malnutrition and to assist in the physical development of children and their concentration and learning • education and training - to enable people to gain employment or make a living and support their families, including assistance to help people avoid being victims of human trafficking and to support the recovery of people who have escaped or been rescued from traffickers • health and hospice care - to alleviate and prevent suffering and disease and provide dignity for the dying • provision of clean water and sanitation - to help people grow food and to prevent disease • housing and shelter - to prevent homelessness and provide shelter and security.
