Sweepstake Summary

As a part of the Big Draw Festival 2022, I'm opening up this opportunity for you to win a discounted place on the upcoming workshop: Autumn Leaves at Westonbirt Arboretum. In this workshop we will embrace the autumn colours whilst learning the basics of watercolour illustration. You will have the chance to explore Westonbirt's historic woodland, collecting leaves, acorns and late flowers to record on paper.

  • Autumn Leaves at Westonbirt : Nature Walks and Art Saturday 8th October 2022 Westonbirt Arboretum 10am – 4:30pm Ticket worth £85 In this workshop we will embrace the autumn colours whilst learning the basics of watercolour illustration. You will have the chance to explore Westonbirt's historic woodland, collecting leaves, acorns and late flowers to record on paper, and take home a beautiful, painted card, as well as the confidence to start your watercolour journey. Art and creativity is a fantastic way to incorporate nature into our lives and appreciate the changing seasons; there is no better place to immerse yourself in the autumn than the arboretum and no better way to get a close up look at those famous colours than to paint them! All materials are provided, however, if you have a bountiful harvest from your garden, feel free to bring along a collection of natural things that you're inspired to paint. This workshop includes admission to the arboretum. Lunch is not included, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch and chose a picnic spot, or enjoy the cafe on site. Tea, coffee, and cake will be on hand all day. Suitable for all levels of ability. About the competition: I feel strongly that art workshops shouldn't be limited to those with disposable income, but artists and art centres alike don't often have the resources to offer places at a discount. So, once I year I try to do something with the Big Draw Event. Last year I raised funds, £2 at a time, for the #priceofapencil campaign with a daily drawing challenge, highlighting the perks of the humble pencil. This year I have a backlog of free blog posts full of resources and advice, as well as one place available on this workshop, which I hope opens up an opportunity to take part. Once ticket sales exceed the expenses, 50% of the profits will be donated to The Big Draw (see more info about them here: https://thebigdraw.org/ )!
