Raffle Summary

To raise funds to continue our vital work alleviating hygiene poverty, we're really pleased to be able to raffle an original (and signed!) artwork by Margo in Margate! Margo McDaid, is an artist whose simple, graphic paintings and drawings are inspired by colour, vintage shirts, illustrations in children’s books, folk art and outsider art. She draws every day and particularly enjoys hearing “that looks like me!” when people view her work. Her work reflects her love of all things bright and optimistic, as well as her life by the sea which “makes the colour even more powerful”. She thinks art should bring us daily joy, which her vivid and expressive prints and painting surely do. If you’re not familiar with Margo’s work, what we can say is that the female depicted in this painting perfectly exemplifies Margo’s signature style: simple yet bold, arresting and graphic acrylic portraiture of savvy and sophisticated women – think sharp bobs, stripy tops and glints in eye. What we especially love about this one is that it captures the world’s most essential gesture... the hug. And maybe that’s because that kind of chimes with what we do here at Toiletries Amnesty! So what do we need to tell you about the piece of art that could potentially be elevating your home soon? Well, in nuts and bolts, its medium is acrylic on canvas, its dimensions are 50 cm x 80 cm, it’s signed by the artist, and its RRP is £350. Most significantly, reader, it’s AN ORIGINAL, a total one off, meaning your ticket price of £10 is *quite the investment*. And it’s very much a win-win scenario, because by buying a ticket (or maybe multiple – fill your boots for a good cause, why not!), you’ll not only be in with good odds of bagging the thing of beauty that is the painting Margo has donated but simultaneously – with the funds your ticket helps to raise – helping Toiletries Amnesty to continue its vital work in the battle against hygiene poverty. About Toiletries Amnesty: Every day, Toiletries Amnesty strives to alleviate hygiene poverty by redirecting unwanted and excess toiletries away from landfills or incineration and into the hands of those in need. We were the first organisation in the UK to tackle hygiene poverty and the only directory that allows individuals and businesses to see exactly where their donations are making an impact. We work with homeless shelters and hostels, women’s refuges, mental health services, end-of-life care hospices, food banks, NHS Trust services, cancer patients support, refugee support services, LGBTQ+ groups, prison services, children's centres, young peoples' services, schools, colleges, community groups, and other organisations that need our support. But we can’t do this alone. We receive no government funding, so we rely on financial donations to ensure we can continue to provide our services for free to the millions of people we support. Last year we supported almost 4 million people, and with your help, we can reach even more. That's a big deal!
