Raffle Summary

The Raffle carries on. Bigger, better and more amazing than ever. The prizes are brilliant and all worth a bit, so don't be a tight arse. All prizes are generously donated by makers, companies and individuals in support of Awamu. All tickets are £1 All proceeds go to Awamu.

20 Prizes

  • A colourful explosion of 80's pop culture painstakingly rendered in Microsoft Paint. From the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to The Hoff, all the heroes of your 80's childhood are gathered under the neon soaked skyline of New York for the ultimate 80's block party. E.T.'s brought his boombox, Rambo's on keytar, Robocop and The Terminator are doing "The Robot" while Freddy, Jason and Pinhead smash the thriller dance and Prince has just rocked up in a Delorean. This is definitely what the 80's was really like. Courtesy of Jim himself - jimll.co.uk

  • Gaslight London Dry Gin - 45% ABV - 350ml Preparing all of the botanicals by hand in their East London garden distillery, Gaslight Gin is 'one shot' distilled (no blending, essences or concentrates used here!) Harnessing the power of vacuum, the delicate botanicals gently release their subtle flavours at room temperature, rather than the traditional method of being boiled. This produces a uniquely bright and fresh-tasting London Dry Gin that is radically different yet quintessentially traditional. Courtesy of gaslightdistillery.com

  • Yes, it's the Rebel MC (rough like a ninja, stinging like a bee)...it's also the original junglist and the Conquering Lion. Not many have given as much to British music over the last 30+ years as Congo Natty but here he is, giving again. Sadly, the man himself is not up for grabs, but this stunning portrait of him by painter-of-walls-and-canvasses Uncle Stubble is.

  • Do you like metal? Do you like children's TV themes? Do you like grown men dressed as cuddly dogs? With over 2.5 million YouTube views, multiple shows at the legendary Craufurd Arms selling out in a matter of hours , an endorsement from Steve Lamacq and collaborations with TesseracT and Nekrogoblikon, it's fair to say that the Zeitgeist is dog shaped, it's heavy, it's metal and it's here. T-Shirt in a size of your choosing, accompanied by four rocking badges to pin to your satchel.

  • Bring 45cm of African joyfulness to your ceiling or standard lamp with a Together shade in your choice of (the available) fabrics. You love them in the barn. Why not put one in your shed and drink a cup of tea on a mattress while nursing a hangover? Play it cool by pretending you're having a game of cribbage and not just feeling sick. Think about more cake. Send the kids to the bouncy castle. As night falls, flick the switch to see your shade in all its splendour. Too much real ale followed by a couple of cocktails should see off the last of that regret from this morning. Get out of the shed, grab a pizza and start a conversation with someone you recognise but can't place. A couple more beers, three hours of ear-bursting jungle then sleep in a tent until your 3 year old stands on your face. Back to the shed, under the shade. Off we go again. You can't do that without a shade, so here's your chance.

  • Okay, so this one seems a little weird at first glance. Yes, olive oil's pretty good for cooking stuff with, it's handy for oil lamps and you can pair it with a nice bit of balsamic and some dusty bread to keep your hunger at bay whilst waiting for your tea to cook. But is it a raffle prize? In this case, it certainly is, because this is no ordinary olive oil, but three litres of the very finest created by Together bosses Steve and Emma at their secret Catalan base. It's authentic, it's got perfect provenance and it's been grown and pressed with love by our heroes. For five years, Steve has been walking the Together site at an abnormal pace so that he can build the stamina and focus required to inspect an entire olive grove every day. He has talked, a lot, just like he talks to the trees to charm them into producing nature's greatest gift and he has cajoled so many of us into giving our time and money to a cause he loves, just as he has cajoled each individual olive to its viscous demise. So, this isn't just olive oil; it's another fruit of Emma and Steve's labour that they are gifting to you as a thank you for your continuing support. Delivery will be arranged later in the year, or the oil (as much as one person can carry) can be collected from Catalonia by prior arrangement.

  • Who likes big ones? Good, because this is the big one. This package is worth something like £500. We can't work it out exactly because there is olive oil, literally, everywhere and trying to grab hold of the calculator is like that Palmolive advert in the 80s where the soap kept shooting around. Maybe that's why it was called Palmolive. Anyway, big ones. This particular big one is a family camping package for Together 2021 comprising: - Tickets for two adults and two children (ages 5-16) - A 4m bell tent for the weekend, waiting for you on arrival and furnished with comfy memory foam mattresses, cotton rugs, a hanging mirror, bunting, solar fairy lights, lots of colourful cushions, low table and battery lamp. - Two Together recycled steel pint glasses - Two Together ceramic mugs Just rock up with your clothes and a bit of cash and you're good to go. If you come by train, we'll even throw in a station to campsite chauffeur (whatever crew member is available) driven limousine (whatever car is available) and take you back to the station at the end of the weekend.

  • Earlier this year, the Together family was shocked at the sudden, unexpected and frankly unfair loss of the wonderful Ian Vickerson. Ian was a warm-hearted, kind and generous man whose hard work and good humour were a cornerstone of every build and every take-down. Whether emptying bins or sitting a vigil of infinite patience supervising the bouncy castle, he kept working all through the weekends without complaint and we will miss him bitterly. Ian was also a very creative person. He loved music, he loved making music and he loved giving others the opportunity to make music. One outlet he found for his passion was making musical instruments. Trish, Ian's partner and fellow Together legend, has very kindly offered to donate three of Ian's creations to the raffle in the hope that Ian's legacy can live on in others, by inspiring them to make music or even just....things. The first of these is a six string electric guitar. The neck is pretty standard as is the single pickup under a handmade wooden cover. The body is a teak bowl, the front of which is entirely covered with a 100 year old brass cymbal. With a handmade wooden bridge and one of the bowl handles for the tailpiece, Trish describes this as "totally impractical funky as anything", which sounds like a fine way to go through life. Pictures are on the Together, Purple Radio and event facebook pages.

The second of these is a four string (the top four) electric with a hand-carved nut. It's got two pickups, one in the bridge position and one in the middle. The neck position is occupied by a sound hole. The tailpiece and bridge are handmade, and there are tone and volume controls, together with a pickup switch. Most importantly, the back is hinged so you can open it up and see what's inside. Trish says "He made them cos i loved them and they are really easy for beginners. It is working and any new guitar maker would love this example cos you can see the workings" Pictures are on the Together, Purple Radio and event facebook pages.

The last of Ian's guitars was not made by Ian (unless he did a shift in the Encore factory in Romania, which is possible) but is a 3/4 steel string acoustic finished in a nice deep sunburst. Trish says "They make good accompanying instruments round a fire for the bass player who feels left out". Who doesn't know a bass player who feels left out?
